Issues

As a teacher and two-term school board member, Angela understands the problems facing everyday hardworking folks in the 39th District who often feel forgotten and abandoned by the political and economic elites.

Good Government:

Constituent services are one of the most essential parts of being a representative. And yet, so many voters I’ve spoken to feel left out, unheard, and unsure of where to go if they need help. I will work to reach out to voters through various methods - telephone and in-person town halls, newsletters, social media, and legislative door-knocking- a few examples of tools I’ll use to ensure everyone is heard.

We must also ensure our representatives represent us, not corporate interests and the wealthy. I support reforming campaign contribution limits and banning lawmakers from stock transactions and accepting gifts.

Reproductive Freedom:

I believe everyone in HD39 deserves the right to make safe and informed decisions about their healthcare. We must protect access to abortions and reproductive healthcare. I will always support access to safe and legal abortions, FDA-approved contraceptive methods, and the implementation of evidence-based sexual health education programs.

Education:

Every child in HD 39 deserves an equitable, high-quality education. As a teacher and two-term school board member, I will work to fund our public schools at the state level fully. We must also address the labor shortage by raising the minimum pay for teachers and support professionals and incentivizing students to join the education profession.

Public Safety:

Everyone in HD39 deserves the right to feel safe in their community and have resources for help. I support expanding mental, behavioral, and substance abuse services because people who are struggling need support, not a record. We also must address gun violence, which is the number one killer of children under age 18.

Environment:

We must act now to protect our environment. Air quality is An environmental issue impacting this district and much of Allegheny County. I see firsthand the adverse health outcomes for the students I teach and the adults in the building. We must hold polluters accountable and take steps toward creating a cleaner and greener environment.

Worker’s rights:

As a union member and someone who has seen firsthand the issues working people face and how unions enhance our quality of life, I will always support the right to organize. I also support reforms such as a higher minimum wage, paid leave, and affordable job training.
